Modi to be sworn in for 3rd term as PM on Saturday
The current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take oath as the PM for the third consecutive time on Saturday (June 8). Modi will become the first PM of India after Jawaharlal Nehru to serve three terms as the PM.
Modi submitted his resignation to Indian President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday (June 5).
Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not get a single majority in this election. The BJP got 282 seats in 2014 and 303 seats in 2019, this time it got 240 seats.
This is why Modi has to go to the alliance partners to secure 53 seats to form the government. It should be noted that BJP's alliance NDA got a total of 295 seats.
