Modric to continue playing for Croatia in Nations League

At the age of 40, with 202 international caps to his name, Luka Modric has no intention of hanging up his Croatia jersey. One of the country's greatest footballers has decided to represent his nation once more, and will be seen in action for Croatia in the upcoming UEFA Nations League.

The Croatian Football Federation confirmed on Saturday that captain Modric had informed national team coach Slaven Bilic and federation president Marijan Kustic of his decision. The veteran midfielder will continue his international career for now.

Modric has been a key figure in the most successful era of Croatian football, leading the team through one major tournament after another. His leadership qualities, as well as his exceptional performances on the pitch, have made him one of the most reliable figures for the national team.

Coach Slaven Bilic expressed his delight at Modric's decision, saying the midfielder's importance to Croatia goes far beyond his on-field performances.

"Of course, I am very happy with Luka's decision. We all know what he represents for Croatia and how important he is on and off the pitch," Bilic said.

Bilic will announce his squad on Monday for the September international break. Croatia are scheduled to play the Czech Republic in Prague on September 26, followed by Spain in Seville on September 29.

More difficult tests await Modric's team in October. They will face England in Rijeka on October 3, before taking on Spain again in Split on October 6.

By deciding to take the field for his country even at 40, Modric has shown that his attachment to the Croatia jersey remains as strong as ever.
