On the directive of Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, the country's defence forces have launched a missile strike. Iranian state television reported that a volley of missiles was fired towards Israel in the early hours of Monday.

AFP reported the information quoting IRIB television.

The IRIB report said that on the directive of the new supreme leader, Ayatollah Saeed Mojtaba Khamenei, a volley of missiles was launched in the early morning targeting the occupying Zionist power. This is the first attack ordered by the new supreme leader.

A photo of a missile was also circulated with the report, bearing the inscription: "Waiting for your command, Saeed Mojtaba."

On February 28, the first day of the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States, Iran's supreme religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed.

Nine days after his death, Iran's influential Assembly of Experts elected his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as the new supreme leader.

In Iran's power structure, the supreme leader holds the highest position. He is the Commander-in-Chief of the country's defence forces. His decisions are considered final in almost all spheres, including military, intelligence, economy, politics and parliament.
