With the 2026 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, France have emerged as the tournament's most valuable squad, narrowly edging Spain and England in a new market-value ranking released by TransferRoom .
According to data shared by Diario Olé, France's squad carries a combined market value of €1.46 billion, ahead of Spain (€1.41bn) and England (€1.40bn). Germany (€1.13bn) and Portugal (€1.01bn) complete the top five.
Five-time world champions Brazil national football team are ranked sixth with a squad value of €941 million, while reigning world champions Argentina national football team sit eighth at €739 million. The Netherlands national football team, valued at €867 million, occupy seventh place between the two South American giants.
The top 10 is rounded out by Belgium national football team (€672m) and Norway national football team (€638m).
The figures underline a notable contrast with the previous World Cup in Qatar in 2022. Argentina went on to win the title despite not being among the most valuable squads, while Brazil entered that tournament as one of the favorites with a star-studded and highly valued roster but were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
Similarly, France reached the 2022 World Cup final and remain at the summit of the valuation rankings thanks to a squad packed with elite talent. Spain and England, meanwhile, continue to benefit from a wealth of young stars whose transfer values have surged in recent years.
Only €60 million separates the top three teams, highlighting how closely matched the leading European powers are ahead of the expanded 48-team World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
While market value reflects the commercial worth of a squad's players, history has shown that it is no guarantee of success on football's biggest stage. Argentina's triumph in Qatar remains a reminder that trophies are won on the pitch rather than in the transfer market. Top 10 Most Valuable World Cup Squads
