Mushfiqur Rahim tops with record-breaking century in Sylhet Test
Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim etched his name into Bangladesh cricket history by becoming the country’s highest century-maker in Test cricket.
The milestone came in style as Mushfiqur reached his hundred with a boundary off Pakistan pacer Mohammad Abbas during the ongoing Test match against Pakistan. The experienced middle-order batter brought up the landmark in 178 balls, registering the 14th Test century of his career.
With the knock, Mushfiqur moved past Mominul Haque to claim sole ownership of the record for most Test centuries by a Bangladeshi batter.
Mushfiq had earlier equalled Mominul’s tally of 13 centuries during the home series against Ireland. Mominul had a chance to reclaim the record in the first Test of the current Pakistan series but fell short after being dismissed for 91.
Mushfiqur, however, capitalised on the opportunity with a composed and responsible innings under pressure. The century also marked his second Test hundred against Pakistan.
