Curaçao made history on their World Cup debut. The Caribbean nation equalized against four-time world champions Germany by scoring a goal. However, Germany led 3-1 at half-time.


Germany took the lead in the sixth minute of the match at the NRG Stadium through Felix Nmecha. However, Curaçao, who made their World Cup debut, equalized in the 21st minute through Livano Comenencia.


Germany maintained their attacking edge even after equalizing. The European team took the lead again in the 37th minute through Nico Schlutterbeck.


Germany was awarded a penalty just before the end of the first half. Germany midfielder Felix Nmecha was fouled in the Curaçao box in added time.


Germany forward Kai Havertz scored from the penalty spot.
