Mustafizur at highest base price in IPL auction, Shakib at 10 million
The mini auction for the Indian Premier League is set to take place on December 16 in Abu Dhabi, with 1,355 players from 14 countries registering. According to Cricbuzz, the base prices of Bangladesh stars Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan have been announced.
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur has placed himself in the top bracket, with a base price of 20 million rupees. He has played for five franchises across seven seasons, most recently representing Delhi Capitals in the 2025 season.
All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has set his base price at 10 million rupees. He has played nine seasons for two franchises, last appearing in the IPL in 2021.
Players from Afghanistan, Australia, England, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, the West Indies, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands, Scotland, the United States and Malaysia have also registered. Malaysian all-rounder Virandeep Singh, 30 million rupees, has entered with a base price of 30 million.
Australia’s Cameron Green, Matthew Short and Steven Smith are in the auction, though Glenn Maxwell is not, after being released by Punjab Kings.
Teams can collectively spend 23.755 billion rupees this auction, with Kolkata Knight Riders holding the highest purse of 6.43 billion and Chennai Super Kings 4.34 billion.
Despite 1,355 registrations, only 77 players will be picked, including just 31 overseas slots, meaning intense competition for both Shakib and Mustafizur.
