Narrow chances for others as AL holds strong position
Awami League has held a strong position in Dhaka 11-15 seats in terms of heavyweight candidates. No strong candidates except Awami League nominated ones are contesting from these seats.
Only Wakil Uddin is visible in Dhaka- 11
Eight valid candidates are contesting polls from Dhaka-11. However, it is quite surprising that only Mohammad Wakil Uddin from the Awami League holds strong position in the voting race. Campaign of other candidates can be seen occasionally in the constituency. This particular picture depicts the polling scenario of Dhaka-11 Constituency, which includes wards 21, 22, 23, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, and 42 of Dhaka North and South City Corporations. The constituency has a total of 426,555 registered voters, consisting of 217,221 male voters, 209,331 female voters, and 3 third gender voters. Apart from Mohammad Wakil Uddin, Mizanur Rahman of National People's Party (NPP) (Aam/Mango), Hossain Ahmed Ashiq (Anchor/Nongor) from Nationalist Movement-BNM, Shamim Ahmed (Plow/Langol) from Jatiya Party, Muhammad Mizanur Rahman (Dub) from Bangladesh Congress, Sadikun Nahar Khan (Television) from Nationalist Front-BNF, Farahnaz Haque Chowdhury (Ektara) from Bangladesh Supreme Party, and Sheikh Mostafizur Rahman (Fish/mach) from Ganafront are participating in the election with their respective symbols. In this seat, A K M Rahmat Ullah of Awami League emerged victorious in the 11th National Parliament Election in 2018, defeating Shamim Ara of BNP. However, A K M Rahmat Ullah had previously been elected as the first Member of Parliament in 1986. Due to his current illness, Rahmat Ullah, who is seventy-five years old, is not contesting the current election. He has been elected as a Member of Parliament five times from different constituencies in Dhaka. In the 10th National Parliament Election, Rahmat Ullah was elected unopposed as a Member of Parliament from Dhaka 11. In the 9th National Assembly Elections in 2008, Asaduzzaman Khan of Awami League defeated Shahab Uddin of BNP. S A Khalek emerged victorious in the 8th National Parliament Election, defeating Kamal Ahmed Majumdar from Awami League in 2001. In the 7th National Assembly Elections, Kamal Ahmed Majumder defeated Ekhlas Uddin Mollah from BNP. Harun Or Rashid Mollah from BNP emerged victorious in the 5th National Assembly Elections, defeating Kamal Ahmed Majumdar from Awami League.
Elusive fame of Kamal in Dhaka-12
Dhaka-12 seat consists of wards 24, 25, 26, 27, 35, and 36. The total number of voters in this constituency is 333,112. Among them, there are 175,527 male voters, 157,582 female voters, and 3 voters belonging to the third gender. Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, a member of the Awami League, is the 'boatman' of the party. He has served as the Home Minister and is running as a candidate from the Awami League in this seat. Kamal's popularity makes it challenging for any competitor to stand against him. As a result, the main opponent of the Awami League, the BNP, has decided to boycott Kamal's vote. Other candidates running in this seat include Shaheen Khan (Mango) from the National People's Party-NPP, Naeem Hasan (Sonali Ansh) from Trinamool BNP, Khorshed Alam (Plough) from Jatiya Party, Atiqur Rahman Nazim (Television) from the Nationalist Front (BAF), and Muhammad Abdul Hakeem (Candle) from the Bangladesh Islami Front. Miamat Ullah, a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), emerged victorious in the 5th National Parliament Election for the Dhaka 12 Constituency, defeating Samsujjoha Khan Majlis from the Awami League. Dr. Dewan Md Salahuddin, also from the BNP, secured a win in Dhaka-12 by defeating Ashraf Uddin Khan of the Awami League. In the 8th National Assembly elections of 2001, Dewan Md Salauddini emerged victorious by defeating Talukdar Md Tawhid Jung Murad. The 9th National Assembly Elections saw Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas from the Awami League defeating Khandkar Mahbub Uddin Ahmad of the BNP. Asaduzzaman Khan secured an uncontested victory from the Kamal seat in the 10th National Assembly elections. In 2018, Kamal emerged as the elected Member of Parliament by defeating Saiful Islam Nirab from the BNP.
Nanak returns in Dhaka-13
Sadek Khan has been nominated by the Awami League for the 11th National Parliament Election in Dhaka-13. However, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, a senior leader of the party, was not given the party's nomination. This time, he has returned as a boatman. Nanak, who is well-known in this area of Dhaka, holds a strong position. He has previously served as a member of parliament twice. Alongside Nanak, other candidates such as Shahabuddin from Sanskritik Muktijot (Choori/stick), Sohail Samad Bachchu from Bangladesh Supreme Party (Ektara), Kamrul Ahsaner from Tarikat Federation (Flower Garland), Jahangir Kamal from Nationalist Front-BNF (Television), and Zafar Iqbal Nantu from Bangladesh Islami Front (symbolized by a candle) have also entered the race for the Dhaka-13 seats. The constituency has a total of 395,438 voters, including 203,744 male voters, 191,688 female voters, and 6 voters of the third sex. In 1991, Md. Ziaur Rahman Khan from the BNP party emerged victorious in Dhaka-13, defeating Benazir Ahmed from the Awami League and securing a seat in the Parliament. The following year, Khan once again triumphed over Md Iqbal from the Awami League in the 1996 elections. In 2001, Benazir Ahmed, representing the Awami League, faced defeat at the hands of Ziaur Rahman Khan. Moving forward to 2008, Jahangir Kabir Nanak emerged victorious in this constituency, defeating Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal from the BNP party. In the subsequent elections of 2014, Nanak secured an uncontested victory and became a Member of Parliament from this seat. Finally, in 2018, Sadek Khan from the Awami League defeated Abdus Salam from the BNP party to claim the seat.
Mainul Hossain Khan contesting from Jubo League in Dhaka-14
Dhaka-14 consists of ward No. 7 to 12 of Dhaka North City Corporation and Kaundia Union of Savar Upazila. Jubo League general secretary Mainul Hossain Khan is contesting with Awami League's boat symbol. Additionally, AYM Kamrul Islam (Television) from Nationalist Front-BNF, Abu Hanif (Mashal) from Jasad, Mahmub Mural (Mango) from National People's Party-NPP, Shahzada Syed Saifuddin Ahmad (Ektara) from Bangladesh Supreme Party, and several independent candidates are also participating in the election. Other independent candidates include Mohammad Mohibullah (Dalan), Sabina Akhtar Tuhin (Truck), Almas Uddin (Plough/langol) from Jatiya Party, Russell (Eagle), Mohammad Emrul Kayes Khan (Rocket), Lutfar Rahman (Kettle), and Nazmul Islam (Sonali Ansh) from Trinamool BNP, and Asif Hossain (stick) from Sanskritik Muktijot have also joined the polling ground with their respective symbols. Since 2008, this constituency is witnessing elections for the first time. Aslamul Haque from the Awami League emerged victorious against SA Khalek from the BNP. In 2011, Aslamul Haque won uncontested, and in 2018, he defeated Abu Bakr Siddique from the BNP. The constituency comprises a total of 418,217 voters, including 213,469 male voters, 204,744 female voters, and 4 third gender voters.
Kamal Ahmed Majumdar in Dhaka-15
Dhaka-15 consists of ward numbers 04, 13, 14, and 16. Kamal Ahmed Majumdar is the candidate representing the Awami League in this particular seat. Muhammad Samsul Islam (Mashal) is running as a candidate from JASAD, Samsul Alam Chowdhury represents the Bangladesh Supreme Party (Ektara), Khandkar Md Imdadul Haque is the candidate from Trinamool BNP (Sonali Ash), Nazma Begum (Mango) is running from the National People's Party-NPP, Ashraf Hossain (Dub) represents the Bangladesh Congress, S M Islam (Television) is the candidate from the Government Nationalist Front-BNF, and Samsul Haque (Plough) is running for election as a representative of the Jatiya Party. In total, there are 344,507 registered voters in this area, with 176,700 male voters, 167,806 female voters, and a portion representing the third gender. Kamal Ahmed Majumder of the Awami League emerged victorious against Dr. Shafiqur Rahman from the BNP party. In the year 2014, Kamal Ahmed Majumder faced no opposition, while in 2008, he defeated Hamidullah Khan Bir Pratik, also from the BNP.
