Nasir Hossain made his return to competitive cricket after a 20-month hiatus. Following the lifting of his ICC ban, the Bangladeshi all-rounder marked his comeback on Monday (April 7) in a Dhaka Premier League match.

In 2021, while participating in the T10 League in the UAE, Nasir was banned due to corruption charges. In September 2023, the ICC suspended him for failing to report receiving an iPhone as a "gift" during the Abu Dhabi T10 League. As a result, he received a six-month suspension and a two-year ban from all forms of cricket.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) issued a statement confirming that Nasir has met all ICC requirements and is now eligible to play cricket again.

The 33-year-old right-handed all-rounder made his return for Rupganj Tigers in the Dhaka Premier League. In his comeback match against Gazi Group Cricketers, Rupganj Tigers chose to field first. Nasir bowled 10 overs, claiming 1 wicket for 31 runs.

Nasir has represented Bangladesh in 19 Tests, 65 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 31 T20 internationals. His last appearance for the national team was in January 2018. Since then, he has played in domestic leagues and has often made headlines not for his on-field performances, but for incidents off the field.
