National team camp begins without Hamza
The Bangladesh national football team's training camp is beginning in Dhaka ahead of the upcoming international match. However, England-based midfielder Hamza Chowdhury is not joining the team at the beginning.
The Bangladesh national football team will play its last match against Singapore in the Asian Cup qualifiers on March 31. Although Bangladesh has already been eliminated from the main stage, head coach Javier Cabrera is giving importance to the match with the aim of improving its ranking.
Before that, Bangladesh will play a FIFA friendly match against Vietnam on March 26. The national team's camp will begin in Dhaka from March 16 with these two matches in mind. The footballers will practice at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.
However, Hamza Chowdhury is not staying at the Dhaka camp. His club Leicester City will play its last match in the English Championship on March 21. After finishing that match, he will join the team in Vietnam on March 22.
After the meeting of the national team committee, media committee chairman Amirul Islam Babu said, Hamza will join us in Vietnam and will also play against Vietnam. Then he will go to Singapore from there.
Meanwhile, Canadian-based midfielder Shamit Shome is joining the camp in Dhaka. He will arrive in the country on March 15. In addition, Zayan Ahmed on March 14, Fahmidul Islam and Tariq Kazi will join the camp on March 16.
It is learned that there will be a total of 30 players in the camp. From there, Bangladesh will travel to Vietnam with a team of 23. Officials said that even if the camp starts before Eid, the presence of the players will be ensured.
It is worth noting that Bangladesh is in third place in Group 'C' of the Asian Cup qualifiers with five points from five matches. Besides, these two matches are the last matches of coach Javier Cabrera's contract in the dugout of Bangladesh. No decision has been made yet on whether his contract will be renewed or not.
