The Bangladesh Football Federation has begun the process of finding a new foreign coach for the national team following the end of Javier Cabrera's tenure. A meeting of the national teams committee was held on Monday, May 4, where a shortlist of 20 candidates was reviewed.

A final shortlist of 10 coaches has been selected. The federation has decided to hold direct talks with them and appoint one within the next three days.

"We have shortlisted 10 coaches. We will finalise one after speaking with them within the next three days," Media Committee Chairman Amirul Islam Babu told journalists after the meeting at Fortis in the capital.

On the same day, the committee also decided to send a national team to a four-nation tournament in the Maldives. National Teams Committee member Shadath Hossain said, "The Maldives has requested us to send a national team. We have arranged to play in both San Marino and the Maldives simultaneously. We will have two national teams. We have many players, so forming teams will not be a problem."

Regarding the new coach's appointment, he added that CVs have been received from experienced coaches across various countries. "CVs from Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Croatia, and Australia have come in. We hope to finalise someone within three days."
