National unity must to defeat fascism: CA

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus stressed that national unity is vital to defeat fascism and safeguard the country.

“We face a great challenge in shaping the nation’s future. This cannot be achieved by any individual or institution alone. Unity among all political parties and factions must be preserved despite adversity,” he said in a statement Saturday night (November 1).

Prof. Yunus thanked the National Consensus Commission for engaging all political parties to formulate and implement the July National Charter, calling it a “historic achievement” that will guide future politics and strengthen democracy.

He said the people expect reforms that will foster a democratic culture, prevent dictatorship, ensure development, and protect citizens’ rights and dignity.

“The most encouraging aspect is that these reforms are our own, not imposed by outsiders. After the July uprising, political parties chose dialogue over foreign mediation. We have set an example of unity for the world,” he said.

The Chief Adviser also praised Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz and members Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Safar Raj Hossain, Justice Emdadul Haque, Dr. Mohammad Ayub Mia, Special Assistant Monir Haider, and media representatives for their contributions.

He urged all to preserve this unity, saying, “Fascist forces seek to divide the nation. To defeat them and protect Bangladesh, there is no alternative to national unity.”
