Nazrul Islam appointed DMP acting commissioner

Nazrul Islam, Additional Commissioner of the Crime and Operations division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, has taken charge as the acting commissioner of DMP.

He replaces outgoing acting commissioner Md Sarwar, who has retired. DMP Media Deputy Commissioner N M Nasir Uddin confirmed the matter.

According to those concerned, this appointment is not merely a routine posting. Nazrul Islam played a crucial role behind the scenes in rebuilding the capital's shattered policing system, boosting the morale of police personnel, and restoring the chain of command following the political changeover on August 5.

Experts have termed his effective leadership in maintaining internal balance and restoring public trust during the crisis period as a 'strategic stability model'.
