In the wake of escalating nationwide protests, Nepal’s President Ramchandra Paudel has resigned, shortly after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stepped down. The dual resignations have plunged the country into political uncertainty, according to multiple Indian news sources reporting on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister was compelled to resign on Tuesday amid persistent demonstrations led by the Janjagaran movement across Nepal, India Today reported.

Last Friday, the Nepalese government blocked access to several social media platforms, citing their failure to comply with new regulations requiring registration within a specified timeframe.

Officials accused social media users of creating fake accounts to spread hate speech, misinformation, fraud, and other illicit activities.

The government's actions triggered widespread protests on Monday, during which demonstrators breached police barricades and entered the restricted parliamentary zone. Security forces responded with tear gas, water cannons, and gunfire in an attempt to restore order.

The violence has resulted in at least 22 deaths and over 400 injuries, highlighting the severity of the ongoing unrest.
