Netayahu vows payback after Iranian missile hits hospital in Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged a strong response after an Iranian missile struck Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba on Thursday morning, as part of a broader barrage targeting multiple sites across Israel.
“This morning, Iran’s terrorist tyrants launched missiles at Soroka Hospital in Beersheba and at civilian populations in the center of the country. We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran,” Netanyahu wrote in a post on X.
The strike on Soroka came shortly after Israeli forces targeted Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor earlier in the day—part of a series of ongoing attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. The escalation marks the seventh day of an intensifying conflict that began with a surprise wave of Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian military installations, senior commanders, and nuclear scientists.
In response, Iran has launched hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel. While most have been intercepted by Israel’s sophisticated multi-layered air defense systems, some have reached their targets. Israeli defense officials have acknowledged that the system, while effective, is not foolproof.
Soroka Medical Center, which serves over one million residents in southern Israel and houses more than 1,000 beds, was among the locations hit in Thursday’s assault.
