Netherlands 2-0 up at half-time relying on Brobbey double
Netherlands took a 2-0 lead into half-time against Sweden in their World Cup Group F match in Houston, with Brian Brobbey scoring twice in the opening 17 minutes.
Brobbey opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a clinical finish from a slick team move. He doubled the lead just 12 minutes later, sliding home a brilliant low cross from Denzel Dumfries from the right flank.
The Sunderland forward's brace is already more goals than he managed in his previous 13 appearances for the Netherlands national team.
Since the hydration break, Sweden have improved and created several chances. Viktor Gyokeres had efforts saved by Netherlands goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, while Yasin Ayari also threatened. Sweden also had a goal ruled out for offside after a brave header from Gustaf Lagerbielke.
Despite Sweden's improved display, Netherlands remain in firm control. The Oranje dominated the early exchanges and look well on course for victory.
