New guidelines for tourists in Bandarban
The district administration in Bandarban has issued several guidelines for tourists considering the increased pressure of visitors and the overall security situation during Eid-ul-Azha. According to the new directives, tourists must return to district or upazila headquarters before evening.
The guidelines were issued in a notification signed by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Saniul Ferdous on Monday, May 25.
Tourists are prohibited from travelling to unauthorised tourist spots or venturing beyond designated routes. Additionally, no foreign national may travel to Bandarban without necessary permits in accordance with existing rules.
Tourist guides, transport owners and workers, and all those involved in the tourism sector have been urged to exercise maximum caution considering tourist safety and the law and order situation. They have also been asked to immediately inform the administration or law enforcement agencies if they notice anything suspicious.
The district administration said the number of tourists in Bandarban may increase significantly during the Eid holidays. Many tourists, particularly in remote areas of Ruma and Thanchi, travel on unauthorised routes. The guidelines have been issued to raise public awareness and ensure safe travel.
