New LNG cargo arrives from Singapore
Discharge of gas from a new LNG cargo has begun at Excelerate Energy's terminal in Maheshkhali. The cargo, brought by an LNG-carrying ship named 'Owen Cheng', was bought from BP in Singapore on the spot market.
The ship was first connected to the terminal at 8:54am on Friday, October 2. After that, the transfer of gas from the ship to the floating LNG terminal began.
Earlier in September, several LNG cargoes arrived in the country from various sources. Among them, LNG was bought on the spot market from Gunvor of the United States, through TotalEnergies from Indonesia and through Aramco Singapore from Australia.
As of 2pm on October 1, total gas supply in the country was 2,625 million cubic feet. Of this, domestic gas supply was 1,610 million cubic feet and supply from imported LNG was 1,115 million cubic feet.
Petrobangla said a total of 19 LNG cargoes have been confirmed for import into the country in October and November. Of these, 10 cargoes will arrive in October and nine in November.
This LNG has been bought from various countries, including the United States, Nigeria and Angola.
