New rules to follow for India visa appointment

The Indian Visa Application Centre has issued new guidelines for the appointment process for visa applications.

The appointment slot for the next working day of the visa application is published on the previous working day, according to IVAC.

On Monday (June 15), an instruction from the Indian Visa Application Centre said that sign-ups and uploading of web files can be done from 2 pm to 4:30pm. Appointment booking will start from 5pm for those applicants who successfully upload the web file.

According to the instructions, the uploaded web file must be a PDF of the original visa application form and it should not be more than 30 days old. No altered, edited or distorted file will be accepted.

In the instructions regarding medical visas, IVAC said that medical visa applicants must go to the designated hospital for which the visa has been issued. In case of changing the hospital, permission must be taken from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

Changing hospitals without FRRO approval will be considered a violation of visa regulations and may result in a ban on future travel to India.
