Religious Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain has said that this year’s Tabligh Ijtema will be held after the national elections in February. The decision was made during a meeting with the Zubair and Sa’ad factions of Tabligh Jamaat at the Secretariat on Sunday (Nov 2). “Law enforcement will be busy during the elections, so the Ijtema will take place after the election and Ramadan,” The adviser said. No decision has been made on which group will hold the Ijtema first.

ধর্ম উপদেষ্টা ড. আ ফ ম খালিদ হোসেন জানিয়েছেন, এবারের ইজতেমা ফেব্রুয়ারির জাতীয় নির্বাচনে পর অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। রোববার (২ নভেম্বর) সচিবালয়ে তাবলীগ জামায়াতের দুই গ্রুপ জুবায়ের ও সা’দপন্থিদের সঙ্গে বৈঠকে এমন সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হয়েছে। বৈঠক শেষে সাংবাদিকদের ব্রিফ করেন ধর্ম উপদেষ্টা। তিনি বলেন, ‘বিশেষ পরিস্থিতির কারণে এ সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হয়েছে। দেশে নির্বাচনের আমেজ শুরু হয়ে গেছে। নির্বাচন উপলক্ষে ব্যস্ত থাকবে আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনী। তাই নির্বাচন ও রমজানের পর ইজতেমা অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। এ বিষয়ে সম্মতি জানিয়েছে তাবলীগ জামায়াতের নেতৃবৃন্দ।’ তবে কারা আগে ইজতেমা করবে, এ বিষয়ে কোনো সিদ্ধান্ত হয়নি। উপদেষ্টা বলেন, ‘দুই গ্রুপের একসঙ্গে ইজতেমা হওয়ার কোনো সুযোগ নেই।’
