Brazilian star Neymar is under investigation by his club Santos following allegations that he physically assaulted a teammate during training.

Sports media outlet ESPN reported that the club has launched an inquiry after the forward was accused of 'physically attacking' his club teammate Robinho Junior during a training session on Sunday, May 3.

According to club sources, tension erupted after Robinho Junior dribbled past Neymar during training. The veteran forward felt disrespected and reacted furiously. The situation escalated to the point where Neymar allegedly tripped Robinho Junior, causing him to fall to the ground. A heated argument broke out between the two, and other players had to intervene to separate them.

In a statement, Santos said, "The club has taken note of an alleged physical attack by one player against another." An internal investigation has been opened, with the club's legal department looking into the matter.

Brazilian media reported that Robinho Junior has made multiple allegations against Neymar, claiming he was insulted, knocked down, and slapped on the face. He has also reportedly discussed terminating his contract with the club, citing a "lack of minimal security."

Neymar has since attempted to calm the situation, apologising to Robinho Junior and his family via phone calls and text messages.

Robinho Junior is the son of former Brazilian star Robinho. Having earned a place in Santos' first team last season, the young player has featured in eight matches so far this season.
