Neymar steps up to aid earthquake-stricken Venezuela
Brazilian football star Neymar has donated $250,000 to support emergency rescue and humanitarian aid operations in Venezuela following a devastating earthquake. The news was reported by the Venezuelan media outlet El Sumario.
According to the report, the funds will be utilized to meet urgent survival needs, including the provision of food, clean drinking water, medical supplies, and temporary shelter.
El Sumario also shared a statement from Neymar expressing his solidarity: "My heartfelt condolences go out to the people of Venezuela. I hope this small contribution brings some strength and relief to the affected families."
According to a CNN report, which cited the President of Venezuela’s National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, the twin earthquakes that struck on Wednesday have left at least 1,430 people dead. Additionally, 3,238 individuals have been injured, and 3,142 families have been displaced after losing their homes.
Rescue teams are continuing their search for survivors, though operations face severe disruptions due to a shortage of heavy machinery and a continuous wave of aftershocks.
