BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that during BNP’s rule, the capital market never crashed and no major problems occurred.

Speaking at the Fourth Bangladesh Economic Conference 2025 in Dhaka on Saturday (November 29), he added, “We never appointed governors under political influence. The banking sector was stable then, and, Inshallah, it will remain so in the future.”

Khasru highlighted that while Bangladesh’s development has progressed due to economic activities, the benefits have largely concentrated in the hands of organised groups rather than reaching the general population.

He emphasised the need for economic democracy alongside political democracy, saying, “Problems cannot be solved solely through politics, elections, or forming governments and parliaments. Real solutions will come when every citizen participates in the economy.”

Khasru also stated that BNP aims to implement a project creating one million jobs within the next 18 months.
