No final decision reached on US Deal: Iran
Iran has said it has not reached any final decision regarding a potential agreement with the United States, pushing back on US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a “great settlement” aimed at ending hostilities between the two countries.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said on Friday (June 12) that discussions remained inconclusive and no formal agreement had been finalised.
“So far, Iran has not reached a final conclusion on the agreement,” Baqaei said, responding to Trump’s remarks that a deal could be signed in Europe in the coming days.
Trump earlier claimed that Washington and Tehran had reached a comprehensive understanding to end the conflict and that a formal signing was imminent.
However, Iranian media cast doubt on the US president’s assertions. The semi-official Tasnim news agency noted that Trump had previously announced an imminent deal on 38 occasions over the past two months.
“Until Iran announces the matter of a potential understanding, any news from Trump on this subject should be regarded the same as his previous messaging,” the agency warned.
The conflicting statements come amid continued diplomatic uncertainty surrounding US-Iran relations, with no official confirmation of any finalised agreement from Tehran.
