No involvement of Indian government with Sheikh Hasina’s statements: Harsh Vardhan Shringla

India’s former foreign secretary and Rajya Sabha member Harsh Vardhan Shringla has said there is no involvement of the Indian government or the government of the country with the various statements of Bangladesh’s former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who is staying in India.

He said this while talking to journalists at a programme titled ‘India and BRICS: The Way Ahead’ at Adamas University in Barasat of North 24 Parganas of India on Wednesday (September 9).

Regarding Hasina’s announcement of returning to the country, Shringla said what Hasina is saying is a matter between her and Bangladesh. The Indian government has clearly stated that there is no involvement of India or the Indian government with her statements.

On Bangladesh-India relations, Shringla said the two countries have a long-standing relationship. It is necessary to maintain good relations with India for the welfare of the people of Bangladesh.

He said India always wants good relations with neighbouring countries. It is necessary to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Bangladesh and India in the interest of the people of the two countries.

Regarding the current political situation in Bangladesh, Shringla said working with a government elected by the votes of the people is a normal matter. Such cooperation will send a positive message in the relations of the two countries.
