Number of voters rises to 12.76 crore, final list on Nov 18: EC

Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the voter list has undergone a major update. The total number of registered voters in the country now stands at 12 crore 76 lakh 12 thousand 384. Within the past two months, 13 lakh 4 thousand 880 new voters have been added.

Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed shared the information with journalists outside his office at the EC headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday, November 2.

He said the updated voter list will be published in its final form on November 18, and the upcoming national election will be held based on that list.

This is the third time within a year that the Election Commission has released an updated voter list. According to EC data, the country now has 6 crore 47 lakh 60 thousand 382 male voters, 6 crore 28 lakh 50 thousand 772 female voters, and 1,230 transgender voters.

The voter update process is part of the Commission’s ongoing electoral preparations, and the next parliamentary election will be conducted based on this newly revised list.

The Election Commission also confirmed that the 13th National Parliamentary Election will be held according to this final list. Once it is published on November 18, there will be no scope for further corrections.
