Nusraat Faria steps away from ‘Tribunal’ over scheduling conflicts

Actress Nusraat Faria has decided to leave director Raihan Khan’s upcoming film “Tribunal” because of uncertainty over the shooting schedule and difficulties coordinating her dates with other projects.

Faria confirmed her decision on Monday (September 14). However, Khan said he had not yet been informed about her decision, either formally or informally.

“Tribunal” is based on a widely reported case involving the killing of a homemaker who was allegedly burned to death in Chattogram. Khan announced the film on December 9 last year to mark 24 years of his career and had initially planned to release it during an Eid holiday this year.

Faria was set to play a lawyer in the film. However, much of the shooting remains incomplete, including several scenes involving her. With no clear shooting schedule, she said it had become difficult to coordinate the film with her other professional commitments.

Faria said she liked the character and had been keen to work on the project, but scheduling uncertainty and difficulties in coordinating several aspects of the production ultimately led to her decision. She also clarified that there had been no major dispute or conflict behind her departure.

Khan, meanwhile, said he had received no communication from Faria about leaving the film and therefore did not want to comment on the matter at this stage.

The production is also facing other delays. Actress Tania Brishty is currently unable to shoot because of illness, while Moushumi Hamid is also unavailable as she is expecting her first child. Khan is waiting for both actresses to return.

The independently produced film is also facing some budget uncertainty. The director hopes to resolve the outstanding issues and begin shooting toward the end of this year.
