NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, 36, is being posthumously honored as a hero by city officials and residents after he was killed while responding to a mass shooting in Manhattan on Monday evening.
The incident occurred in a high-rise building when 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura opened fire indiscriminately, killing four people, including Officer Didarul. Authorities have since arrested Tamura, who is believed to be suffering from mental illness.

“Officer Didarul Islam gave his very best to this department. He laid down his life to protect the people of New York. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
