Oman moves to secure Hormuz shipping with new sea routes

Oman has introduced two temporary shipping corridors in the Strait of Hormuz as part of efforts to maintain the uninterrupted movement of commercial vessels through one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.

The initiative, coordinated with international maritime authorities, comes amid heightened regional security concerns that have raised fresh questions over the safety of navigation in the Gulf.

The Strait of Hormuz serves as a critical gateway for global energy exports, making stability in the area a key concern for international markets.

Under the temporary arrangement, commercial vessels will be directed through newly designated routes positioned outside the traditional navigation lanes.
