World's best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has made an open comment on Bangladesh's cricket and politics. The cricketer, who is currently staying in the United States with his family, recently spoke in an interview about his political position, the uncertainty of returning to the country, the future of the cricket board and personal experiences.

Commenting on the country's political situation in the interview, Shakib said, "I used to see everyone supporting Awami League, but now I see no one supporting Awami League. Such is the situation."

When asked where he would go first when he returns to the country—Mirpur Stadium or his own district, Magura—he said, "Now, setting foot in Dhaka is the biggest concern."

The former captain also spoke about the future leadership of the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Asked whether his former teammate and friend Tamim Iqbal has taken any new initiatives as the board president, Shakib said, "The board that comes after the elections will have a lot of time to think and make decisions."

Responding to criticism about joining politics, Shakib said, "I don't think I have done anything wrong."

Explaining the reason for participating in the election during his playing career, he said, "I have never been Shakib Al Hasan in Magura. I have always been a Faisal in Magura."
