In a precautionary measure following precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), India closed 16 airports in the northern and western regions on Wednesday morning. The strikes were in response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives.

The closed airports are located in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. They include: Leh, Thois, Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Jamnagar, Bhatinda, Bhuj, Dharamshala, Shimla, Rajkot, and Porbandar.

Key infrastructure such as refineries and hydropower plants near the border have been placed on high alert. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which secures these sensitive sites, has stepped up its security protocols.

An official stated, “There is no cause for panic. This is a precautionary step, and the airports have been temporarily sealed for civilian movement.”
