Operation to continue until all objectives achieved: Trump
US President Donald Trump has warned that additional American casualties are likely as US military operations against Iran will continue until all objectives are achieved.
US Central Command confirmed that three US service members have been killed and five others seriously wounded during the ongoing campaign. Trump acknowledged the human cost but said operations would continue.
Iranian authorities reported at least 153 fatalities, including children, after a strike hit a school inside Iran. In Israel, nine people were killed in a missile strike on Beit Shemesh.
The conflict has spread across the region. In Lebanon, Israel struck Hezbollah targets following missile and drone attacks on northern Israel. Hezbollah claimed the attacks were in retaliation for the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam urged restraint to avoid further Israeli strikes.
Iran launched retaliatory strikes across the Gulf, with authorities in the UAE intercepting dozens of ballistic missiles and drones. Explosions were reported near facilities in Dubai, Doha, and Manama.
The Gulf Cooperation Council condemned Iran’s actions as violations of international law.
Blasts were also reported in Tehran, though internet restrictions limit assessment of damage. Iran additionally targeted sites in Iraq, including areas near Erbil International Airport, which US Central Command confirmed as intended targets.
Global markets reacted sharply, with Brent crude and US benchmark oil rising over 10% in early Asian trading before stabilizing.
Senior US officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, are scheduled to brief Congress on Tuesday amid growing concern over a wider and prolonged Middle East conflict.
