Oyarzabal, Yamal secure dominant 3–0 lead over Saudi Arabia
Spain has completely dismantled Saudi Arabia with a blistering attacking display in the first half of their 2026 FIFA World Cup Group H clash at Atlanta Stadium. Luis de la Fuente's side bounced back emphatically from their opening-day frustrations, scoring three goals in under 25 minutes to leave the Green Falcons stunned.
The breakthrough arrived in the 11th minute when teenage winger Lamine Yamal, making his first start of the tournament, slid in at the far post to finish a beautiful cross from Mikel Oyarzabal.
Spain continued to dictate the tempo and doubled their advantage in the 21st minute. Following a corner routine, Dani Olmo sent a cross back into the danger zone, allowing Mikel Oyarzabal to react quickest to a loose ball and poke it past Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais.
Just three minutes later, in the 24th minute, Mikel Oyarzabal capitalized on sustained attacking pressure to claim his second of the afternoon.
Connecting with a combined aerial buildup from Marc Cucurella and Dani Olmo, the Real Sociedad captain fired home at the back post to solidify a comprehensive 3–0 cushion before the mid-half hydration break.
