Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir warned on Thursday (May 1) that any military aggression by India would be met with a strong response. He made the remarks while observing a Pakistan Army military exercise.

General Munir said, "There should be no doubt about one thing — any military provocation from India will be met with a strong, swift, and harsh response. While Pakistan remains committed to regional stability, we are fully prepared and resolute in safeguarding our national interests."

This statement was released by Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to Dawn, citing ISPR, the Pakistan Army's Mangla Strike Corps carried out a military exercise called "Hammer Strike" in Jhelum, Punjab. General Munir attended the drill, commended the troops' morale and preparedness, and reaffirmed Pakistan's dedication to protecting its sovereignty.

Earlier, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, stated in a press conference that while Pakistan will not initiate a war, it will respond decisively if India does.

He remarked, "World leaders are urging restraint. On behalf of the government and the nation, I want to make it clear that Pakistan will not take any actions to escalate tensions or start a war. However, if any aggression comes from the Indian side, we will respond with full force."

It is important to note that on April 22, 26 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. India accused Pakistan of being behind the attack, which Islamabad has denied. Since then, both nations have taken retaliatory actions, intensifying the situation.
