Indian yoga guru Ramdev has said that Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will one day be reunited with India. He called on Indians to be patient in this regard.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at Raipur in Chhattisgarh on Monday, August 17. In response to questions at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur, Ramdev said Indians only need to wait with patience. He said that one day Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will again become part of India. His remarks have sparked fresh political and social debate in India, according to an India Today report.

During the same interaction, Ramdev also spoke about the situation of Hindus in Bangladesh and Pakistan. Referring to recent remarks by Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari, he alleged that Hindus in both countries have faced oppression and injustice. He claimed such incidents are examples of serious cruelty in the history of human civilisation.

The yoga guru also commented on religious conversion and the law enacted in Chhattisgarh to prevent it. He said allegations of oppression against Hindus, Muslims or Christians are often used as political rhetoric. However, he stressed the need to ensure that people of any religion do not face persecution in the future.

Ramdev further said no religion in India is in an existential crisis. He claimed Hinduism, Islam or Christianity — none are under threat. According to him, the country's honour and dignity are now the most important issues.

Various parts of Ramdev's remarks have sparked debate in India's political arena and on social media. His comments on the reunification of the three neighbouring countries with India have particularly stirred controversy. However, no immediate reaction from the Bangladesh or Pakistan governments was available regarding his remarks.
