Pakistan beat Bangladesh to reach Asia Cup final
Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 11 runs in the Asia Cup semi-final to secure a place in the final against India. Chasing 136 runs to win against Pakistan, Bangladesh lost all their wickets in 20 overs and scored 124 runs.
Chasing 136 runs to win, Bangladesh's total was 23/1 after 4 overs. But after that, the fall of wickets took Bangladesh to the brink of defeat.
For Bangladesh, no one could do anything except Shamim Hossain Patwary. He scored 30 runs off 25 balls. No one else could even score 20 runs.
Saif Hasan made 18 runs off 15 balls and Rishad Hossain made 16 runs off 11 balls towards the end to reduce the margin of defeat.
For Pakistan, two pacers Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi took 3 wickets each.
Bangladesh failed in batting as well as bowling. Pakistan took advantage of the missed catches by Bangladesh's fielders and finally scored 135 runs for 8 wickets. They gave Bangladesh a challenge of 136 runs to reach the final.
Shaheen Shah Afridi scored 19 runs after getting killed in 1 and 3 runs. Similarly, Mohammad Nawaz played an innings of 25 runs after getting killed in just 1 run. Together, the two got 'bonus' of more than forty runs.
Mohammad Haris scored the highest 31 runs for Pakistan. He scored 24 runs in 23 balls with 2 fours and 1 six.
Taskin Ahmed, who returned to the playing XI with this match, took the highest 3 wickets for Bangladesh. Sheikh Mehedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain also took 2 wickets each.
