Pakistan conveys US ceasefire proposal to Iran
Pakistan has delivered a ceasefire proposal from the United States to Iran, according to sources.
A source told Al Jazeera that a document from the Trump administration was presented to Iranian authorities by Pakistan, and they are now awaiting Tehran's response.
Citing senior Pakistani sources, Al Jazeera journalist Osama Bin Javaid reported that the US proposal has been formally conveyed to Iran. There is also a possibility of a meeting between officials of the two countries in Islamabad in the coming days.
Several other countries are also playing an active role in mediation efforts, sources said. Harun Armagan, Vice President for Foreign Affairs of Turkey's ruling party, told Reuters that Ankara is facilitating the exchange of messages between Tehran and Washington. The primary goal of these efforts is to reduce tensions and create a path for direct dialogue, he said.
Armagan added that Turkey maintains close communication with both the US and Iran and is coordinating with other mediator nations to help calm the situation.
According to sources, attention is now focused on Iran's official response, which will determine the direction of any future talks.
