Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in China on a four-day official visit aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The Pakistani premier landed at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport on Saturday (May 24), where he received a high-level welcome from Zhejiang Vice Governor Xu Wenguang.

According to Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Office, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Beijing Khalil Hashmi were also present during the reception ceremony.

As part of the visit, Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with Wang Hao, Secretary of the Communist Party of China’s Zhejiang Provincial Committee. Following the talks, the two sides signed two cooperation agreements in the presence of senior officials.

One of the key agreements included a memorandum of understanding establishing a “sister province” relationship between Zhejiang and Pakistan’s Punjab province.

Officials said the initiative is expected to boost collaboration in trade, investment, agriculture, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
