Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has warned that Islamabad may conduct operations inside Afghanistan following recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan.

The announcement comes after deadly strikes in South Waziristan and the capital Islamabad, reports Geo News, a Pakistani TV news channel.

According to Pakistani media, two major attacks in the past two days targeted Wana Cadet College in South Waziristan and a suicide bombing in Islamabad, killing at least 12 and injuring over 30.

In an interview with Geo News, Asif accused the Afghan Taliban of providing shelter to armed groups carrying out attacks in Pakistan, calling the Taliban’s condemnations “unbelievable.”

He said, “These groups operate under the shadow of the Taliban to attack us.”

He added that Pakistan would respond firmly if India or Afghanistan attempted aggression, but stressed that Islamabad would not initiate attacks.

On social media, Asif described the situation as a nationwide struggle against terrorism, not just a military effort.

Speaking to reporters, he warned that Pakistan would not tolerate terrorism in any area, whether along the border or in cities, and would respond strongly to every attack.
