Pakistan will play against India only if 3 conditions met
Pakistan has said it is willing to play under three conditions in connection with the Bangladesh issue following controversy surrounding the upcoming T20 World Cup in India.
Bangladesh had taken a firm stance on playing in the India-hosted tournament and requested a change of venue. When the request was rejected, the International Cricket Council, ICC, ultimately excluded Bangladesh and gave Scotland a place in the World Cup.
Following the decision, the Pakistan Cricket Board, PCB, openly stood by Bangladesh. The PCB even announced a tough stance of boycotting the India–Pakistan match to pressure the ICC, creating a deadlock in Pakistan’s relations with the global cricket body.
Signs of a breakthrough have now emerged. The Pakistan Cricket Board has said it will agree to play against India in the World Cup if three conditions are met.
According to NDTV, the PCB placed these demands during a meeting with ICC officials in Lahore on Sunday. The conditions include providing enhanced compensation for Bangladesh, ensuring participation fees for Bangladesh despite being excluded from the T20 World Cup, and granting Bangladesh the right to host an ICC event in the future.
The report said that while some PCB officials are in favour of playing the match against India, board chairman Mohsin Naqvi remains firm on his position. He is scheduled to meet Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday, after which a clearer picture is expected to emerge regarding the next course of action.
