Paoli Dam takes on a new avatar in historical series

Indian actress Paoli Dam has taken on a striking new look for The Revolutionaries, a period web series exploring the armed resistance of revolutionaries against British colonial rule.

Directed by filmmaker Nikkhil Advani, the series recently premiered on Amazon Prime Video. Set against the turbulent years of India’s anti-colonial struggle, the story follows four revolutionaries and explores their resistance, patriotism and sacrifices.

Paoli plays a key character in the series. Her new appearance drew attention after she shared behind-the-scenes photographs on social media on the day of the release. Dressed in period costumes and styled to match the era, the actress appears in a markedly different avatar from many of her previous screen roles.

The series features a large ensemble cast portraying figures from the freedom struggle. Bhuvan Bam plays revolutionary Rash Behari Bose, while Rohit Saraf portrays Sachindra Nath Sanyal and Gurfateh Pirzada plays Bagha Jatin. Pratibha Ranta appears as Pratibha Lahiri, while Jason Shah plays British General Dyer.

Paoli has worked across Bengali and Hindi films and web productions, taking on a wide range of roles. Her appearance in The Revolutionaries adds another period character to her diverse body of work.

With its historical setting and ensemble cast, the series revisits a turbulent chapter of the anti-British movement through the stories of those who fought for independence.
