Parvati-inspired look earns praise for Raj Ripa

Bangladeshi actress Raj Ripa is drawing attention on social media with a new festive photoshoot in which she channels the iconic Parvati look associated with Aishwarya Rai's portrayal in Devdas.

The actress appeared in a traditional makeover for the special Puja photoshoot, and the resemblance quickly caught viewers' attention. Many social media users have since dubbed her "Banglar Paru" (Bangladesh's Parvati).

Ripa said she initially approached the photoshoot as a routine project. However, when Tania, owner of Women's Doll Beauty Lounge, suggested recreating Aishwarya Rai's Parvati-inspired look, she was initially amused and unsure whether the transformation would work.

That changed after the makeup and styling were completed.

"Looking at myself in the mirror, I was genuinely surprised. I felt I had actually stepped into Aishwarya’s Parvati look," Ripa said, adding that the experience gave her a fresh boost of confidence.

The actress has also expressed interest in playing Parvati if Devdas is remade in the future. Referring to the Bangladeshi version starring Shakib Khan and Apu Biswas, she said she would be ready to take on the role if a new adaptation is made.

After a two-year break, Ripa is now returning to regular work. She has already completed filming for the web film Noy Se Bhalobasha and has appeared in several advertisements, international promotional projects and OVCs.


She said she wants to work across films, web films, web series, OVCs, TVCs and big-budget dramas in the coming days.

Ripa moved from Khulna to Dhaka in 2017 with dreams of becoming an actress after playing badminton at the national level. She began her screen journey with Raihan Rafi’s Dahan in 2018 and later gained wider recognition as a leading actress through Manzurul Islam Megh’s Moyna in 2025. Her upcoming film Mukti, directed by Iftekhar Chowdhury, is awaiting release.


Alongside acting, Ripa is continuing her studies in fashion design. She says she wants to give equal priority to both her education and acting career while using new projects to establish herself more firmly in the industry.
