The body of an 83-year-old passenger who died during a Turkish Airlines flight has reportedly gone missing, raising questions about what happened after the aircraft landed.

Flight TK79 departed Istanbul on July 13, bound for Chicago, when the unnamed passenger suffered a severe medical emergency mid-flight. The incident occurred while the plane was flying over Greenland. Despite the emergency, the crew opted to continue on to Chicago O’Hare International Airport, which is equipped to handle such situations, according to Aviation A2Z.

The individual was pronounced dead before the aircraft landed in the U.S., and Turkish Airlines has since stated that the body was removed upon arrival and transferred to another flight destined for San Francisco.

However, confusion arose after the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office reported that it never received the body. Local media outlet SFGATE confirmed that the office has no records of the body’s arrival, nor any documentation confirming the death or the transfer.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office in Chicago also stated it has no information related to the case.

Meanwhile, the remaining passengers continued their journey to San Francisco on a separate flight.

As of now, no further details have been released about the deceased passenger’s identity, and the whereabouts of the body remain unknown.
