PCB alleges Bangladesh took review after watching replay in big screen

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged a formal complaint with the match referee over a last-minute DRS (Decision Review System) call taken by Bangladesh during the tense final moments of the third ODI.

Pakistan claims the review was taken after Bangladesh reportedly watched the ball’s replay on the stadium big screen, which they say is not in line with standard protocol.

The incident took place in the match’s final over, with Pakistan needing 12 runs from the last two balls. Bangladesh bowler Rishad Hossain delivered a ball outside leg stump that seemed to pass the wicketkeeper without touching batter Shaheen Shah Afridi. On-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena initially signaled a wide.

Bangladesh captain Miraz, after consulting his teammates, opted for an LBW review. While the ball appeared not to hit Afridi, the DRS replay showed a slight edge under the bat, overturning the wide call.

Although Bangladesh lost the LBW review, the reversal of the wide left Pakistan needing 12 runs off the final delivery.

On the last ball, Afridi was stumped by Rishad and, frustrated, threw his bat at the stumps. Bangladesh sealed the match and the series with an 11-run win.

The PCB’s complaint questions whether the stadium replay influenced Bangladesh’s decision and whether the 15-second review window was exceeded. With no visible timer broadcast, it is unclear if the time limit was breached.

The PCB is seeking clarification from the match referee and expects any procedural error, if confirmed, to be acknowledged.

This marks the second on-field controversy in the series. In the second ODI, Pakistan batsman Salman Aga was run out while outside the crease when Mehedi Hasan Miraz delivered the ball. Aga reacted angrily, throwing his bat and gloves, and was fined 50 per cent of his match fee and handed a demerit point, while Miraz received a 20 per cent match fee fine.
