PCB fines cricketers for poor performance in WC
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has fined each cricketer in Pakistan's World Cup squad 5 million rupees for their disappointing performance in the ICC T20 World Cup.
The information was reported by Pakistani media outlet Express Tribune.
In this edition of the World Cup, Pakistan won two matches in the group stage but suffered a heavy 61-run defeat against arch-rivals India. Their Super Eight match against New Zealand was washed out by rain. Following a loss to England, Pakistan needed to beat Sri Lanka by a margin of 64 runs to advance to the semi-finals. Although they won the match, the margin was insufficient, and the team failed to secure a semi-final berth.
According to the media outlet, the PCB decided on the fines after the defeat against India.
Additionally, under the PCB's decision, Pakistani cricketers will now receive financial benefits based on their performance. This strict measure by the PCB is currently generating widespread discussion in the cricketing world.
