PM's meeting with Indian High Commissioner begins

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The meeting began at 11am today, Monday (10 August 2026), at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat.

According to sources concerned, the meeting is expected to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, various issues of mutual interest, and ways to further advance Dhaka-New Delhi relations.

The two sides may also discuss various areas of cooperation between Bangladesh and India. The foreign minister is expected to brief the media after the meeting.

Earlier, speaking about his meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the Indian High Commissioner said, “Tarique Rahman is a people-friendly leader. India’s prime minister is also people-friendly. If the two leaders come together, many problems will be resolved.”

He also spoke about plans to reduce the cost of obtaining visas for ordinary citizens and increase the capacity of visa application centres. At the same time, the Indian High Commissioner said initiatives were being taken to increase visa-issuing capacity.

Amid recent discussions and expectations surrounding bilateral relations between Dhaka and New Delhi, the meeting between the prime minister and the Indian High Commissioner is being viewed as significant.
