Police across the country arrested 1,880 individuals in the past 24 hours during special operations, officials said Friday. Of the total, 1,295 were wanted under cases and warrants, while 585 were detained in connection with other incidents. AHM Shahadat Hossain, AIG (Media and PR) of the Police Headquarters, provided the figures, highlighting the ongoing efforts to ensure law and order nationwide. The operations also led to the seizure of various weapons, including one single-barrel gun, three old pipe guns, three machetes, six knives, two Burmese knives, six light guns, nine rounds of cartridges, an axe, and a crowbar. Police emphasized that such special drives are part of continued measures to curb criminal activity and maintain public safety across the country.

গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় সারা দেশে বিশেষ অভিযানে ১ হাজার ৮৮০ জনকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে পুলিশ। শুক্রবার (২২ আগস্ট) পুলিশ সদর দপ্তরের এক বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এ তথ্য জানানো হয়। গ্রেপ্তারকৃতদের মধ্যে ১ হাজার ২৯৫ জন বিভিন্ন মামলা ও পরোয়ানাভুক্ত আসামি। বাকি ৫৮৫ জনকে বিভিন্ন অভিযোগে আটক করা হয়েছে। পুলিশ সদর দপ্তরের এআইজি (মিডিয়া অ্যান্ড পিআর) এএইচএম শহাদাত হোসেন জানান, আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষায় চলমান অভিযানের অংশ হিসেবেই এসব অভিযান পরিচালিত হচ্ছে। অভিযান চলাকালে বিভিন্ন ধরনের অস্ত্রও জব্দ করা হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে রয়েছে—একটি সিঙ্গেল ব্যারেল বন্দুক, তিনটি দেশীয় পাইপগান, তিনটি দা, ছয়টি ছুরি, দুটি বার্মিজ ছুরি, ছয়টি হালকা বন্দুক, নয় রাউন্ড গুলি, একটি কুড়াল ও একটি লোহার রড। পুলিশ জানায়, অপরাধমূলক কার্যকলাপ দমনে এবং জননিরাপত্তা বজায় রাখতে দেশব্যাপী এ ধরনের বিশেষ অভিযান অব্যাহত থাকবে।
