Pori Moni captivates in divine avatar of goddess Durga
Dhallywood actress Pori Moni has captured attention with her striking transformation into the Hindu goddess Durga, wearing a traditional white sari with a red border, an elaborate crown, floral garlands and ornate jewellery. Holding a lotus flower, she appeared in a look inspired by the goddess, drawing widespread praise from fans after a video of the photoshoot was shared on social media.
On Sunday afternoon, October 18, Pori Moni posted the video of the special photoshoot on her Facebook page. Her attire and expressions evoked the festive spirit of Durga Puja. Some viewers commented that she could easily have been mistaken for a Durga idol had she stood beside one at a puja pavilion.
“May good triumph over evil,” Pori Moni wrote in the caption accompanying the video. The message, paired with her goddess-inspired appearance, added to the post’s appeal.
Her followers were equally impressed by the transformation. Some described her as “Durga herself”, while others commented that “Pori is a fairy in every look”. One follower said they had hoped to see the actress dressed as Durga just days earlier and that the new photoshoot had fulfilled that wish.
The video drew a substantial response within its first hour. During that period, it received more than 37,000 reactions, around 5,500 comments and approximately 550,000 views. These figures may have changed since the post was published.
Meanwhile, Pori Moni remains busy with her acting career. She is working on filmmaker Gias Uddin Selim’s web film Separation, in which she stars alongside Imtiaz Barshan. Filming has reportedly wrapped, although the release date has yet to be announced.
