Prasun Azad explains why she quit acting
Prasun Azad, who began her journey in acting after becoming the first runner-up in Lux-Channel i Superstar in 2012, has revealed why she suddenly stepped away from the profession. The actress, who worked regularly in dramas and several films before withdrawing from the limelight, disclosed the reason herself in response to a fan's question.
In a recent Instagram Q&A, Prasun Azad explained that the acting profession is extremely costly yet offers comparatively low financial returns. Sharing a screenshot of the fan's question, she wrote that the return on investment in acting is very low, and the income is also one-time, whereas the work itself becomes an artist's intellectual property.
She further wrote that during her acting career, she had to spend heavily on regular salon visits, clothing, gym, and a certain lifestyle. She noted that a significant amount of money was spent monthly on salon and clothing maintenance alone.
Prasun said the desire to leave that expensive life behind and adopt a more normal lifestyle also influenced her decision to quit. Simultaneously, preparing herself as a housewife from a middle-class family was a consideration. She wrote that she was losing her inner strength under the pressure of an unsustainable lifestyle.
She also had a desire to be a homemaker. In Prasun's words, it is not easy to be a homemaker while also working hard outside.
Additionally, she cited her own physical transformation as another reason for leaving acting. She noted that her increased weight affected her confidence.
Prasun Azad, who is now focused on her family and business, is a mother of two. Apart from acting, she has worked in several films including Sorbonasha Yaba, Ochena Hridoy, and Padmapuran.
