Pregnant Deepika stays on set to complete ‘Raaka’ shoot

Bollywood star Deepika Padukone is continuing to work during her second pregnancy, with the actress currently focused on completing her portions for director Atlee’s upcoming film Raaka, co-starring South Indian superstar Allu Arjun.

According to Indian media reports, Padukone is in the later stages of her pregnancy and is expected to take a break from work soon. She is reportedly keen to complete her pending commitments before stepping away for the birth of her second child.

Padukone has been shooting regularly for Raaka and has, when required, stayed on set late into the night to finish her scenes. Her commitment has reportedly impressed the film’s cast and crew, while the production team is closely monitoring her health and ensuring that her working conditions remain suitable.

The development comes after Padukone was at the centre of a major industry debate over her reported eight-hour daily work condition. She was dropped from Spirit after disagreements over working-hour arrangements, while similar concerns reportedly emerged around Kalki 2. The issue sparked extensive discussion in Bollywood and the South Indian film industry throughout 2025.

Raaka, described as a large-scale science-fiction fantasy film, features high-budget action sequences and is scheduled for release in 2027.

Padukone also has King, starring Shah Rukh Khan, in her upcoming lineup. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film features Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Raghav Juyal, Abhay Verma, Saurabh Shukla and Rani Mukerji alongside the lead stars. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on December 24.

People close to Padukone said she wants to fulfil her existing professional commitments before taking maternity leave. Despite continuing to work during pregnancy, the actress is reportedly prioritising her health while completing her remaining scenes for Raaka.
